Bunbury. Ernst sein is everything!
Deutsches Theater, Schumannstraße 13a, 10117 Berlin, Mitte
About
"Bunbury. Ernst sein is everything!" is a theatre performance in the Kammer venue of the Deutsches Theater. It is Oscar Wilde's most famous and final comedy, in a fast-paced version by director Claudia Bossard, taken over from Schauspielhaus Graz and awarded the Nestroy Theatre Prize. The two dandies Algernon and Jack lead double lives to escape their social obligations and live out their secret wishes incognito, triggering comic entanglements. In the queer-inflected staging, the witty comedy becomes a theatrical treat that frees images of gender and identity from their Victorian corset.
