About
“De Profundis” is a theatre production at the Berliner Ensemble, a revival based on Oliver Reese's adaptation of Oscar Wilde's long letter from prison. Direction and adaptation are by Oliver Reese; on stage is Jens Harzer, who makes his debut as an ensemble member with it. The piece deals with Oscar Wilde's 1895 sentence to two years in prison and his letter to Alfred “Bosie” Douglas — a farewell letter about contempt, loneliness, pride and pain. For the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the production ranks among the ten best productions of 2025.
