About
"DDRdirekt" is a reading and performance with music about workers writing in the GDR. It is organised by the Bundesarchiv – Stasi Records Archive Berlin-Lichtenberg, the Lichtenberg district office of Berlin and the Büro für organische Poesie. anna martha and Thomas Hartung searched the archive for writing workers and discovered voices from a vanished society – sometimes fully in line with official ideology, sometimes full of nuance, contradictions and cautious criticism. With sounds of factory halls and housing shortages, of the collective, football and big dreams, they bring these surprising texts to life again, accompanied by music by Christian Beckers.
