Die Blutgräfin
About
Die Blutgräfin is a feature film by Ulrike Ottinger starring Isabelle Huppert. After her mysterious disappearance, the Blood Countess reappears in present-day Vienna and, with her maid, searches for a book that can destroy all evil, while an alliance of vegetarians and authorities as well as vampire researchers are hot on her heels. Featuring Birgit Minichmayr and Lars Eidinger, the vampire comedy turns into an adventurous scavenger hunt through Vienna's morbid locations. An eccentric dance of vampires in three-four time.

Critics
Critics praise the witty, coherent storytelling, striking costume and set design blending old and modern Vienna, while faulting a confusingly absurd opening.
