About
„Gaskačázis“ is a live audiovisual performance at the Museum Europäischer Kulturen. Behind the project are composer and musician Markus Thonhaugen (iDJa) and visual artist Eili Bråstad. The title is a northern Sámi word for the space beneath the surface; using recordings made with contact microphones and a microscope, plus an improvised joik, the project explores the intersection between nature, indigenous culture and modern technology. Against the backdrop of human interventions transforming the nature of Sápmi, sound and images react to each other in real time, inviting reflection on a world in change.
