HALLO BETTY tells the story of Swiss advertising copywriter Emmi Creola-Maag, who invented the fictional character Betty Bossi in the 1950s. Director Pierre Monnard shows how she held her own in the male-dominated advertising industry of the 1950s and conquered the kitchens of countless Swiss people with her recipes. In authentically old-fashioned sets and costumes, the film blends a serious emancipation drama with humorous entertainment, seasoned with Spätzle, galantine and Toast Hawaii.
