About

MADRE® is a theatre play at Heimathafen Neukölln – the German-language premiere of a piece by the author Marta Barceló, translated by Birgit Kirberg. Réka Kincses directs, with Wera Herzberg and Inka Löwendorf on stage. It tells of Anna, a successful advertising manager who knows only too well how to design images of a happy life, yet never had a harmonious family herself – until she stumbles upon an ad: 'I could be the mother you always dreamed of.' The play examines how people open themselves up and seek out a family beyond kinship ties, while also showing the unexpected effects of capitalist logic, the business of love and the invention of new formulas for personal relationships.
