Honeck & Frang
Philharmonie, Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, 10785 Berlin, Tiergarten
About
A symphony concert by the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin at the Philharmonie. Conductor Manfred Honeck and Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang perform Julia Perry's 'A Short Piece for Orchestra', Schumann's long underestimated violin concerto, and Mahler's First Symphony. Schumann's concerto, written in 1853, was premiered only about 80 years later and is now counted among the most fascinating concertos of Romanticism. Mahler's First combines rapturous, folk-song-like and dramatic elements.
