Metropolis
About
The silent film classic “Metropolis” by Fritz Lang is accompanied live by the Babylon Orchester Berlin. Made in 1927 with Brigitte Helm and Alfred Abel, the film is considered the epitome of German silent film, shot in Berlin-Babelsberg with 36,000 extras and 200,000 costumes. More than 50 musicians play the newly published salon orchestra score with the original music by Gottfried Huppertz at Babylon, built in 1929. The film comes from the collection of the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung in Wiesbaden.
