Once Upon a Time in a Forest

"Once Upon a Time in a Forest" is a documentary and an open love letter to Finnish nature and those who protect it. Made by Virpi Suutari, it closely follows young environmentalists of the protest movement Elokapina (Extinction Rebellion Finland), founded in 2021. They campaign to protect one of Europe's last natural coniferous forests and the biodiversity of Finnish nature. The film asks where the activists' commitment to nature conservation comes from and which decisions they must make to fully focus on the movement's goals.
