About

OST WEST OST is an exhibition on postwar modernism in Berlin. It brings the rebuilding of the city after 1945 to life along the architectural ensembles of Karl-Marx-Allee, with comparative views of the Hansaviertel and of postwar modernism elsewhere. Across three levels of the Schillingstraße and Weberwiese underground stations a history walk leads to 24 selected anchor buildings with information on their history, design and use, the middle level covers the planning and construction of the street and life on it, contemporary photographers present the architecture in new ways, and local clubs show their cultural engagement on site.
