"Rope for Absolute Beginner" is a weekly class for anyone who wants to learn about Japanese-inspired rope bondage/shibari/kinbaku, whether tying or being tied. The class is led by visual artist Renée de Sans (she/her), whose work focuses on the body as a site of narrative, emotion and presence. It covers the fundamental principles and first techniques of shibari, the tools used, its history, anatomy, psychology and safety, with time to try things out and play. The class welcomes all bodies, gender expressions, sexualities and constellations, solo or in groups; tying happens only with consent, and ropes are provided.
