Saul fia

About
Saul fia (Son of Saul) is a feature film about Saul, a member of the Sonderkommando in Auschwitz who is forced to lead Jewish fellow prisoners to the gas chambers. When he believes he recognizes his illegitimate son in the body of a child, he is determined to bury him secretly according to Jewish custom and to find a rabbi among the prisoners. Directed by László Nemes and starring Géza Röhrig, the film is told entirely from Saul's subjective point of view, with the atrocities appearing blurred at the edge of the frame. The SS remains the faceless, impersonal death, perceived only as unbearable yelling and barking.

Critics
8.2Very good
Critics praise the immersive point of view, striking cinematography and haunting sound design. A few fault the harrowing intensity and question whether the depicted brutality is exploited.
