About
WUNDERBARES WRODOW is a documentary about the small village of Wrodow in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, its roughly 60 residents and its castle. It was directed by Rosa von Praunheim. The film portrays people with very different life stories who shape the village through commitment, music and cultural life, far from usual clichés about East Germany. Its eventful history between feudalism, National Socialism, the GDR and reunification is ever present, and many residents from Bessarabia preserve their memories, stories and old songs.

Critics
Critics praise the poetic imagery, humour and non-judgemental portrayal of real villagers. Little is faulted; the film is seen as socially valuable and engaging rather than didactic.
