About

A darkly funny and moving autobiographical play about a British-Iraqi family. Thirty years after Laith's parents fled Iraq to escape Saddam Hussein's dictatorship and claimed asylum in the UK, his family is falling apart as he struggles to hide his darkest secret. It was written by award-winning British-Iraqi playwright Laith Elzubaidi and directed by Olivier Award-nominee Emily Ling Williams, starring Tommy Sim'aan as Laith. The play explores British-Iraqi identity, generational trauma, family expectations and the realities of the refugee experience.
