About
Tosca is an opera by Giacomo Puccini performed by the English National Opera at the London Coliseum. In Annilese Miskimmon's new production, sung in an English translation by Amanda Holden, the opera singer Floria Tosca plans a secret meeting with her lover, the painter Mario Cavaradossi, in a concert hall in an unidentified European state overtaken by civil conflict. When the corrupt police chief Scarpia intervenes, a place of music is transformed into a site of fear and violence, and over one night Tosca is forced to fight for her love, her honour and her life. The cast includes Grammy Award winner Axelle Fanyo as Tosca, tenor Chaz'men Williams-Ali as Cavaradossi and Christopher Purves as Scarpia, conducted by Ben Glassberg.
