About
A screening of the film 'Hugo [3D Screening]'. Martin Scorsese directs this storybook tale of an orphaned 12-year-old who keeps up the clocks at Paris's Gare Montparnasse following his father's death, and who through a serendipitous encounter with aged, forgotten filmmaker Georges Méliès, played by Ben Kingsley, finds a new makeshift family through his immersion in the world of cinema. Ben Kingsley appears alongside the tale of the boy's discovery of the cinema, with marvelously detailed soundscapes by the Oscar-winning Fleischman giving Scorsese's pre-war Paris period piece an immediate thrumming vitality.

Critics
7.7Very good
Critics praise the film's craftsmanship, 3D visuals, acting and loving tribute to early cinema. Faults include thin characterization, overlength, repetition and drama that lags behind its visual marvels.
