About
Nikka is a special exhibition at the Museum Rietberg in Zurich devoted to the Indian painter. Its subject is Nikka of Guler, son of the famous artist Nainsukh, who in the second half of the 18th century created princely portraits and impressive series of pictures on religious and literary themes. Curated by Eberhard Fischer and produced in collaboration with the GBF Foundation for Cooperative Research on South Asian Art and Artists, it presents significant works from the museum's Pahari collection, built up over the past 50 years thanks to private supporters. New research now allows the work of this long-overlooked master of Indian painting to be grasped in detail for the first time.
