About
The Berliner Philharmoniker perform a symphony concert in the Philharmonie's main hall. On the podium is Iván Fischer, one of the most significant Mahler conductors of our time, celebrated for his transparent yet emotional interpretations. Joseph Haydn's Sinfonia concertante opens the evening, in which four orchestra soloists – violin, cello, oboe and bassoon – engage in a virtuosic dialogue with the orchestra. Gustav Mahler's Fifth Symphony then follows, his most popular, famous for its Adagietto, a musical declaration of love to his later wife Alma.
