»Blue« is an object theatre piece by the Greek puppet duo Hop Signor, using little spoken English. The duo takes the colour blue, the uniform and familiar jokes about men in uniform as a starting point for a theatrical reflection on police violence, power structures, fear and vulnerability. The award-winning production unfolds through precisely played, intense scenes about confessions, threats, silence and brittle tenderness. Its miniature world works like a distorting mirror – ironic, exaggerated and at the same time painfully truthful – and closes the festival Theater der Dinge with a powerful portrait of a society and its control systems built on authority and hierarchy.
