Jim Queen

„Jim Queen“ is a French-Belgian animated comedy for adults. Queer fitness influencer Jim, star of the iconic “Gym Queens,” catches a mysterious virus in Paris that turns gay men straight, and suddenly becomes a social outcast. Together with Lucien, a freshly out twink who is his only remaining follower, he sets out to find a cure to save both himself and the whole community. Directors Marco Nguyen and Nicolas Athané drew on their own experiences in the Parisian LGBTQIA+ scene; the biting satire questions heteronormativity as well as the unspoken codes and exclusion mechanisms of the gay community.

7.6Very good

Critics praise the riotous, witty humor, the colourful animation and its sharp satire of stereotypes. They fault the crude gags, reliance on clichés and the risky AIDS-epidemic allegory.
