Sacrifice

„Sacrifice“ is a satire about actor Mike Taylor, who wants to fix his image at a climate benefit gala until terrorists storm the event to save the Earth from a supervolcano eruption – which requires three human sacrifices. Romain Gavras directs, giving the action-packed plot a coherent look. The cast includes Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek, John Malkovich, Vincent Cassel and Charli XCX. The power of storytelling and the dysfunctional family of the leaders around Joane and the volcanologist Gunnar also play a role.

Critics praise the visually striking, satirical direction and the charismatic star cast. They fault the incoherent storytelling, a superficial core, and a second half that drifts without focus.
