Trainspotting

The cinema is showing the film „Trainspotting“ in a new 4K version. Danny Boyle tells the story of Mark Renton and his so-called friends – losers, thieves and heroin addicts – whose friendship falls apart in 1990s Edinburgh. The film, based on Irvine Welsh's novel, is regarded as a masterpiece and pop culture phenomenon. It is being re-released for its 30th anniversary, with a restoration supervised by the director himself.

8.3Very good

Critics praise the black humour, kinetic visual style and strong acting, calling it a stylish masterpiece. Some fault its glamorous portrayal of heroin use, which risks overshadowing the addiction's horrors.
