Blade Runner
The Metrograph, Ludlow Street 7, 10002 New York, Manhattan
About
Ridley Scott's 1982 science fiction noir, adapted from a novel by cult writer Philip K. Dick, has become the gold standard for imagining a neon-wreathed future. The film follows its dystopian vision with design concepts by 'visual futurist' Syd Mead and an atmospheric synth score by pioneer Vangelis. It remains a template for the genre, as influential in its day as Fritz Lang's Metropolis was half a century before.

Critics
8.3Very good
Critics praise the stunning production design, effects, music and atmospheric vision. They fault a thin plot, weak character development, slow pacing and an imposed happy ending.
