Confluence
Urban Glass, Fulton Street 647, 11217, Brooklyn
About
Confluence is an exhibition of sculpture and installations made from recycled and repurposed glass, with an opening reception from 6 to 9 PM. It was created by artists Anna Boothe and Nancy Cohen, born during a 2024 international artist's residency at WheatonArts in New Jersey. Their collaborative research covers 300 years of regional glass history, from colonial era wares to contemporary scientific apparatus, and its relationship to local waterways, area ecology, and the changing climate. Working in atypical combinations of methods and materials, they use the fluid and non-fluid duality of glass to transform hard-edged scientific glassware into forms evoking the soft-edged natural world, curated by Dr. Ferris Olin.
