"A New Dawn" is an anime drama from Japan and France. It was directed and written by Yoshitoshi Shinomiya. It tells of Keitaro, who wants to save his father's 330-year-old, decommissioned firework factory from demolition. Critics
Critics praise the gorgeous, painterly animation, the vibrant score and the confident direction of the debut feature. Little is faulted, though the film's very short runtime stands out.
