About
“Bruno – Der junge Kreisky” is an Austrian-German feature film about the youth of the later Austrian Chancellor Bruno Kreisky. Director Harald Sicheritz tells how, as a schoolboy from a wealthy Jewish family in Vienna in the late 1920s, Kreisky is only reluctantly admitted to the Socialist Workers' Youth. With Nils Arztmann in the lead role, Bruno and his young comrades fight the rising fascist regime, organise forbidden meetings and hand out resistance leaflets. The film portrays a young man who, caught between his bourgeois background and political awakening, courageously stands up for his ideals.

Critics
Critics praise the charismatic, modern portrayal of young Kreisky, his idealism and the film's democratic message. They fault the schematic love story and an uneven narrative drifting through many flashbacks.
