Kuu on vaarallinen

About

"Kuu on vaarallinen" (Preludes to Ecstacy) is a Finnish film noir from 1961 directed by Toivo Särkkä, shown in a 4K restoration completed in 2023. A wealthy married businessman takes in a young hitchhiker named Elsie, and the two begin an affair at his weekend house, where he passes her off as his niece. When Elsie falls for a young man from the neighbourhood who wants to make plans for a shared future with her, a dangerous love triangle unfolds. Desire, deception and finally a death bring the situation to a head, as the three main characters play a risky game in which nobody lays their cards on the table. The screening is introduced by Mikko Kuutti.
