"Ish" is a black-and-white feature film about twelve-year-old Ish and his best friend Maram, who spend their summer roaming the woods and neighbourhoods of Luton and forming first ideas of who they want to be. When a police stop and search humiliates Maram and shakes Ish, their friendship changes, and the racist practice of profiling enters their everyday lives. Behind the film is Imran Perretta, for whom it is his feature debut. The film follows the two boys through friendship, grief, masculinity and the search for belonging, showing how institutional distrust can seep into the most ordinary relationships.
