About

»Iván & Hadoum« is a film by Ian de la Rosa. Set in a summer in southern Spain, Iván works at a greenhouse facility and is about to be promoted to manager, which would give his family a better life. When Hadoum joins the operation as a seasonal worker, old feelings awaken from their schooldays, before her transition; Hadoum, who has always had to stand up to prejudice because of her Moroccan background, also campaigns for workers' rights at the company, and Iván must decide whom to stand by and who he truly wants to be. The film tells of two outsiders who must tear down social barriers to find each other.

Critics

7.5Very good

Critics praise the blend of love story and class conflict, avoiding stereotypes and centering hope over pain. Little is faulted; some characters seem elusive or contradictory.
