Staatsschutz
About
»Staatsschutz« is a feature film about the young prosecutor Seyo Kim, who after surviving a racist attack on her life takes the law into her own hands and sues in her own name. In her investigation she confronts a justice system in which racism is rooted and right-wing violence is downplayed. The film by director Faraz Shariat («Futur Drei») is based on exhaustive research and asks whether a system can fight itself. Chen Emilie Yan plays the lead, alongside Julia Jentsch, Alev Irmak, Arnd Klawitter and Sebastian Urzendowsky.

Critics
Critics praise the taut direction, multi-layered heroine, cinematography and score, and the blend of systemic critique and suspense without moralizing. Faults are sparse, only occasional humorlessness being noted.
