»Loops & Hoops« is a paper theatre piece by Dominik Migač, Marta Migač and Jan Pichler from Czechia. Its starting point is the mass gymnastics festival Spartakiade, evoked by a quote welcoming more than 90,000 gymnasts. On a stage the size of an old television set, the piece reflects on everyday life in Czechoslovakia during the period of so-called normalization. It tells of uniformity and monotony, conformity and personal freedom, as well as nostalgia kitsch and nostalgia critique.
