About
The event "Öffentliche Probe: Rosa L." is a public rehearsal with an introduction and a joint rehearsal visit; the meeting point is the main entrance. Behind the stage adaptation "Rosa L." is director Anica Tomić, who adapted the piece based on the film by Margarethe von Trotta and the graphic novel by Kate Evans, in a stage version by Jelena Kovačić and Anica Tomić. The play is about Rosa Luxemburg, who was born in 1871 in the southeast of today's Poland, began as a Polish Social Democrat, studied in Switzerland, became a charismatic Berlin figure and an icon of the European left, and was murdered in Berlin on 15 January 1919 by right-wing Freikorps. The director continues the film material into the present together with the author Jelena Kovačić, asking how Rosa Luxemburg can be read and thought in a time in which militarisation, rising nationalism and fear of war become politically effective.
