About
„Spur der Steine“ is a 1966 feature film directed by Frank Beyer. It tells of a large construction site where brigade leader Balla is seen by the new party secretary Horrath as undermining his authority, the two rivals bound by a mix of respect and rivalry. Both fall in love with the construction engineer Kati; when she expects a child by Horrath and he publicly acknowledges it, he loses all his party posts. Classified as hostile to party and state, the film disappeared into the DEFA archives for 23 years shortly after its theatrical release in 1966.
