A Year without Summer
Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Linienstraße 227, 10178 Berlin, Mitte
About
A Year without Summer is a performance by Florentina Holzinger and her ensemble on the Große Bühne of the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Florentina Holzinger directs, choreographs and performs it, joined by a large cast and live music. Its backdrop is 1816, when the eruption of the volcano Tambora filled the sky with ash and ruined the harvests, and the young Mary at Lake Geneva invented Dr. Frankenstein. It explores the stories told about bodies, health, identity and the environment, from medical promises of rejuvenation and the quest for immortality to the dangers of AI, robotics and bioengineering.
