Bad Apples

Bad Apples is a pitch-black comedy based on a novel by the Swedish author Rasmus Lindgren. The idealistic teacher Maria (Saoirse Ronan) tries to inspire her class of ten-year-olds, but one especially chaotic and unpredictable pupil keeps throwing the lessons off balance. As things escalate, Maria accidentally locks the troublemaker in her basement – and suddenly the class is thriving like never before. The film by director Jonatan Etzler, starring Saoirse Ronan, Eddie Waller and Jacob Anderson, is a dark comedy and satire about an apparently inescapable dilemma.

6.8Good

Critics praise Saoirse Ronan's performance, the sharp dark humor and the entertaining, unpredictable story. They fault underdeveloped adult characters, a rushed ending and a premise not developed convincingly enough.
