About

Carmen is an opera by Georges Bizet, staged on the main stage of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Alejo Pérez conducts and Ole Anders Tandberg directs. At its centre is a woman who even accepts her own death to preserve her freedom. With her uncompromising will for autonomy, Carmen shattered the moral conventions of her era, setting her apart from the passive female figures of 19th-century opera.
