About
Der fliegende Holländer is a romantic opera by Richard Wagner at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In this premiere, the combative theatre-maker Milo Rau engagements for the first time with Wagner's work and cosmos, using the romantic opera as a starting point for a journey into the political depths of post-war Germany. At its centre is the cursed sailor who can only find redemption through a woman's loyalty, finding an obsessively determined ally in Senta. Musically, the young conductor Giedrė Šlekytė makes her Wagner debut here, with Tomasz Konieczny as the Dutchman and Aušrinė Stundytė as Senta.
