Jewgeni Onegin is an opera in three acts by Pjotr I. Tschaikowski based on a book by Alexander S. Puschkin. Barrie Kosky's staging uses opulent, richly detailed images of nature to tell this melancholy drama of the soul about four young people whose hopes and longings come to nothing. In the end they realize how close happiness was. The production, created with the Opernhaus Zürich, is performed in Russian.
