Das geträumte Abenteuer

“Das geträumte Abenteuer” is a feature film by Valeska Grisebach starring Yana Radeva, Syuleyman Alilov Letifov, Stoicho Kostadinov, Nikolay Shekerdjiev and Denislava Yordanova. The archaeologist Veska has returned to her hometown of Svilengrad, in the border region between Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey, for an excavation project, where she unexpectedly runs into her old acquaintance Said, whom shady business has brought there. After a happy day spent together at the excavation site, Said disappears, and Veska follows his trail ever deeper into the hidden layers and relationships of the town and its people – stories from the great upheaval of the 1990s, of freedom and dashed dreams, violence and fast money. Drawing on her own memories and supported by her friends from Svilengrad, she begins to write her own story.

7.5Very good

Critics praise the unhurried, atmospheric direction, the blending of genres and the non-professional actors. Some find the pace too demanding, placing the film only mid-field for a few reviewers.
