Deutscher Herbst
DT Bühne - Deutsches Theater Berlin, Schumannstraße 13 10117 Berlin
About
„Deutscher Herbst“ (German Autumn) is a theatre evening at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. The acclaimed director Christopher Rüping and his ensemble lend their ear to German history, starting from the literary travelogue „Deutscher Herbst“, which the young Swedish author Stig Dagerman wrote in 1946 for the newspaper Expressen about a country lying in misery, hunger and ruins. The evening tells of the losses of the present – of the disappearance of memory, of the end of shared narratives, and of possible utopias opening up behind that end. The world premiere took place at the Ruhrtriennale at the Jahrhunderthalle Bochum, and the production is a co-production with that arts festival; the evening lasts 3 hours 20 minutes with one break.
