A documentary film about Freya von Moltke, who belonged to the resistance circle around the “Kreisauer Kreis”. The two documentarians Antje Starost and Hans Helmut Grotjahn reconstruct her life; they also directed and wrote the screenplay, with Nina Hoss and Ulrich Matthes as narrators and Freya von Moltke and Helmuth Caspar von Moltke appearing. At its centre is the love between Freya and Helmuth James von Moltke, which begins in 1929 and must prove itself in the everyday life of the Third Reich. During his imprisonment the two exchange letters almost daily, smuggled through the prison chaplain Harald Poelchau – a love in the resistance that does not end even with his execution.
