About
“Polaris” is a theatre piece at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, a co-production with the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen and the Théâtre National du Luxembourg. It is a project by director Jan-Christoph Gockel, who travelled with a documentary filmmaker and two actors to the Neumayer-Station III in Antarctica for research. The starting point is a real crime: in 2018 a Russian researcher seriously injured his colleague with a knife after the man revealed to him how a book ended. The result is a surreal mockumentary theatre piece between fiction and filmed documentation about human limits in the “no man’s land” of Antarctica, with Julia Gräfner and Wolfram Koch as well as live music by Anton Berman.
