Schwarzwaldmädel
About
Schwarzwaldmädel is a German feature film that, as the first German colour film after 1945, became a classic of the Heimatfilm wave of the 1950s. Directed by Hans Deppe, it tells how the painter Hans Hauser falls in love with the „Schwarzwaldmädel“ Bärbele Riederle at a ball and follows her to her home village of St. Christoph. The two are clearly meant for each other, but before they can finally embrace, they must pass tests such as rivals for Bärbele's favour and the revue star Malwine Heinau. With 16 million viewers it was the most successful German film to date and made Sonja Ziemann and Rudolf Prack stars.
