About
"The Ugly" is a feature film from South Korea showing at Kino Babylon. The blind seal engraver Yeong-gyu and his son Dong-hwan learn that the remains of Yeong-gyu's wife Yeong-hui, who disappeared 40 years ago, have been found. Together with a documentary film producer, they trace memories of the past. The film explores the reasons for the murder as well as the meaning of beauty and ugliness, showing how the socially disadvantaged can themselves become perpetrators.
